Surfrider Foundation Palm Beach County Chapter Tribute: Marco Musa

Marco Musa : 1962 – 2010

Marco Musa, 48, of Highland Beach, FL passed away in his home on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Born April 1, 1962 in Bloomington, IN, he was the son of Mark and Isabella Silva Musa. Marco attended Indiana University in Bloomington and held a successful entrepreneurial career in the optical industry. He touched thousands of lives through his work and inspired countless employees and co-workers to further their education and improve themselves. Marco was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying boating, kite-surfing, diving, spearfishing and more. But Marco's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He adored his two sons and traveled the world with them. He was a loving husband, a loved and respected brother and son and a true friend to all who knew him. A private memorial service will be held for family members. If you wish to express your condolences, in lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Surfrider Foundation – Palm Beach County Chapter in the name of Marco Musa. Marco was greatly loved by his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and not ever forgotten.

Tribute : Bill "The Pineapple Man" Dunn

Bill "The Pineapple Man" Dunn : 1960 – 2009

Bill Dunn was born December 24, 1960 and passed away last Friday night in a sudden accident he was almost 49. He is survived by his mother Gail Dunn and brother Greg. He had many close friends and made a life for himself living in the County Pocket behind the Nomad Surf Shop. Bill was a well known wedding photographer, carpenter, gardener, surfer and diver. He lived a simple life and most recently became known as “The Pineapple Man” because he liked to make wooden pineapples and give them away as gifts; the whole County Pocket is covered with them. His daily presence and friendly greetings will never be forgotten.

A beach service is scheduled for 4pm Saturday, November 14th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Surfrider Foundation Palm Beach County Chapter.


Tribute : Paul Herbert "Herbie" Haines

Paul Herbert "Herbie" Haines : 1953 – 2009

Beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin passed away quietly at his home in Tacoma, Washington. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Haines Andrews, siblings, Barbara Haines Bliss, Martha Haines, Kathy Haines, Robert Haines, Susan Haines Brown, Karen Haines Dillman and Linda Bush Peters, his aunt, Patricia Scurlock, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, and grand-nieces. He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Navarre (Bud) Haines. A former member of the Southeast Surf Syndicate, Eastern Surfing Association, and a Fox Surf Team Member from its inception, he will be remembered for his exceptional style and camaraderie. Always cheerful, with kind words for all and generous to a fault, Herbie will be missed by not only his family, but by his many friends and associates. A memorial service will be held in Lake Worth, FL, at Del Lago Chapel, 131 South Lakeside Drive, August 8th at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Surfrider Foundation Palm Beach County Chapter.
